P. aeruginosa is responsible for an estimated 51,000 hospital acquired infections each year in the US alone. With a growing number being multidrug-resistant, P. aeruginosa has entered WHO’s list of bacteria for which we are in urgent need of new antibiotics. Commonly affecting the immunocompromised or hospitalized patients with serious infections P. aeruginosa accounts for roughly 10% of all hospital acquired infections.
