A. baumannii is listed by WHO as one of the top emerging threats for which new antibiotics need to be developed. An estimated 45% of the species isolates are already multidrug resistant. Although infections rarely occur outside of the healthcare environment, A. baumannii accounts for nearly 2% of all hospital acquired infections in Europe and the US. This bacteria can live longer periods on the surfaces of the hospital interiors and sometimes spread from there. The 1928 pipeline for A. baumannii is equipped to track outbreaks and predict potential resistance genes.

  • cgMLST (core genome MLST), typing with finer resolution than traditional MLST with our own schema built from 2308 genes.
