Software Engineer

- Join us in the fight against antibiotic resistant bacteria!

1928 Diagnostics combines software technology and genomics to analyze DNA from infectious bacteria and help hospitals detect, stop and prevent outbreaks. In-depth characterization of the bacteria can also guide the physicians in how to treat the patients. Apart from saving lives, we also reduce costs and diminish the spread of antibiotic resistant bacteria.

We are now expanding our development team with highly motivated and engaged developers to be part of the challenge. You will join a development team consisting of 5 software developers and 3 bioinformaticians. Your team is creating a custom-made processing platform for analyzing DNA data and a web application, where the challenge is to present complex and dynamic data with a focus on quality and user-friendliness. Everything is running in a Kubernetes cluster which is scaling on the computational needs. We primarily work with Python, React.js, Typescript, CSS/LESS, Django, RabbitMQ, PostgreSQL and other things that we find exciting. We want to continuously challenge ourselves and keep learning new things.

To enjoy working with us you should find excitement in working with all parts of the product and you want to challenge yourself with technologies you have less experience in. We have an open-minded, communicative, result-oriented culture that takes joy in working in a fast-paced, growing organisation that is continuously changing. We have our base in the office in Gothenburg but also promote flexibility in location and working hours. You will have the opportunity to travel to trade shows, customers and collaborators.

1928 Diagnostics was founded by three scientists and a serial entrepreneur in 2014. As of now, we have a full outbreak analysis platform that is sold to clinics in different parts of the world. In 2018, 1928 Diagnostics was awarded as Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum, for our innovative technology that is poised to have a significant impact on global health, society and business. We have also been on 33-listan 3 years in a row and by that received the title “Gold company”.

We are a very committed and diverse team, today 19 people and growing, with competences within software development, bioinformatics, molecular biology, QA/RA, sales, marketing and finance. The team is led by two of the founders, Kristina Lagerstedt and Susanne Staaf, who together have a long experience within life science research and development.
